Artwork by students from Sunny Brae Middle School will be sold at The Garden Gate at Arts Arcata on April 11. Students in the Cesar Chavez Service Club and Roadrunners After-Hours program have joined The Little Hands Project in an effort to reach out to hospitalized children and to support Circus Remedy, a local non-profit dedicated to bringing the magic and wonder of the circus into ailing children’s lives.
Students contributed their handprints to six-by-six inch canvases and painted them for the project. “It was a lot of fun and I liked being able to help children who are sick experience a good time,” said Sierra Marini, a student at Sunny Brae. The art will be photographed and included in an e-book which will be given to hospitalized children worldwide. The canvases will be sold by donation at a minimum of $10 each. All proceeds will be used by Circus Remedy to send local performers to Chiapas, Mexico in December.
The Garden Gate will continue to display and sell the artwork throughout April. The Cesar Chavez Service Club is part of Roadrunners After-Hours, the afterschool program at Sunny Brae Middle School. The service club gives students the opportunity to give back to their community through service projects that honor the life and legacy of Cesar E. Chavez.

Six Rivers Planned Parenthood will be serving wine as a benefit for their programs!
